This product does not thoroughly clean clothing. The washer casing is very flimsy and dents easily. Also not a huge fan of the cheap plastic used on the "START" button. It is adequate, but I have concerns about its longevity.

This is our second GE washer in 4 years. Our first one had the belt replaced after a year. Then it didn™€™t even last 4 years when it broke. My husband insisted on getting another one so that it matched the dryer but it™€™s only 3 months old and the agitator is coming off. I don™€™t even wash heavy loads.

It is noisy as noted in other reviews but so was the 19 year old GE washer it replaced. Best feature for me, the controls are simple and the clothes come out clean. Great capacity, I can launder a king size quilt with room to spare and I appreciate having control over the water level. So far, a solid purchase. 19 years might be too much to hope for but I remain optimistic.

After using a LG washer for two months that was not cleaning our clothes we were able to swap out with this washer. This washer washes much better and our clothes are clean every time. While this washer makes a bit more noise, its not too loud and makes the amount of noise one would expect from a washer machine. I feel like this washer was well made and performs well.

I really don't like this washer. Low water level...REALLY low. Even on MAX and Bulky, the clothes absorb all the water. There is no extra water in the tub when agitation begins. I also hate that the door locks when spinning. It takes forever for the spinning to stop so we can put it in the dryer. I mean like 5 mins of free-wheel spinning once the cycle is complete. Seems like appliances are getting worse over time, not better. I want my old washer back. I would def not buy this again.

I like this washer because it uses the proper amount of water like an old-school washer. I have noticed it will put fabric softener on your clothes at the end of cycle so you have to make sure that you water down your fabric softener so that does not happen. These washers typically last me 3 to 5 years and that™€™s it but I do like it and this is my third washer like this. Family of 4

I am absolutely crazy about this washer. It actually uses water to help get clothes clean. And it agitates them without tearing them to pieces. I washed a white T-shirt that has been gray for years and it came out sparkling white no bleach. This machine lets you decide your water levels and temperatures. I love that. Go GE.

This washer is very loud. It sounds like the motor is going out when it is agitating. I shut it off as soon as I heard the noise because I thought something was wrong. It doesn't fill up all the way in the tub on the fullest load. Called the company i got it from and they said it was normal. Very disappointed in this product. Would not recommend this washer!! Wanted to return it, but they said I couldn't. I complained about it after the first load. Not a happy customer.

I have owned and used this G.E.Model GTW385ASWWS agitator washing machine for a few weeks now and have finally made my peace with it. The pros: This model is very basic - which is what I wanted in the first place - a simple machine that will wash clothes without a lot of buttons or options to push or to break down later. The controls are round Knobs, easy to see and set. The capacity is good, a deep drum that can accommodate a comforter or blankets. The basket is stainless steel, which is nice. The cons: This machine is prone to having unbalanced loads which necessitates having to stop the machine to re-arrange the clothing inside, even with lightweight loads. We have re-set the adjustable legs on the bottom of the machine several times to try and remedy this. Also, it is LOUD, compared to my previous old Maytag. While washing, no matter which cycle I choose, even with a small load, the noise it makes sounds as if it's struggling and surging to agitate. LOUD! But I can get used to that. Its worst feature is: In its quest to 'save water' it seems like it does not do an adequate job of rinsing all the soap out of clothes. So I did my own little test: I placed a few items of clothing into the drum. I added just a thimblefull of laundry soap. I ran the load on "Auto" cycle (on this particular cycle the machine senses and decides how much water to use). After the complete cycle was done and the clothes were spun dry, I re-set the cycle to wash the clothes again, adding NO soap, and again using the "Auto" cycle. When the cycle got to the 'Rinse' portion, I opened the lid and I saw so much soapy water and suds residue (leftovers from the First wash!) that I became convinced the only way to get your clothes really rinsed well is to use the 'Deep Rinse' option and completely bypass the 'Auto' option. (I have always used little to no soap in my years of doing laundry, so it's not me using too much soap.) Would I buy this model again? No. It is lacking an efficient rinsing method in its quest to be 'water-wise' (but again, you can override this by using the 'Deep Rinse' option, which obviously does not save water!). Also, I believe I read (too late) where this specific model lacks the good insulation that normally muffles the sound of the motor/agitator. (Check the decibel levels of other washers and you can compare them.) Despite its disappointing points, I will keep this model until it breaks, which some friends have told us will happen sooner than later.

The washer is perfect for all my needs. All I was looking for in one appliance and the water sensing is awesome. I can washer more clothes at once without overcrowding the washer. my new washer works well, but is noisy. also i thought it had a wash option for jeans, but it does not. additionally, it cannot auto- balance bulky loads. my old washer, an Amanda, could fix an unbalanced load by itself, which is a nice feature for a senior. but i do love the basic dials for the wash options and water quantity. i have had problems in the past with washers with the computerized option panels.

Super straightforward top loading washer. Our laundry room is in the garage (MidAtlantic area). We need appliances that can survive winter cold and summer heat. Based on research, this GE seemed to make sense. The basket is big enough for queen sheets, the controls are basic but with enough options for our family. It out-cleans the two washers (not GE) we had before that had more bells and whistles. After all, getting laundry clean is pretty much the point.
